To ensure you get the highest burn time from your Paper Garden candles, we have listed 7 of our best tips for burning.
Be sure to place your candle in an area free from drafts. The candle being put out by the draft or the flame moving can cause the candle to burn unevenly.
The first time you light the candle, allow it to burn until the liquid wax covers the entire top of the candle. This breaking in process insures that it will perform better and more evenly throughout its life.
For our candle pillars, plan on burning 3-4 hours on the initial lighting. With subsequent use, the candle should remain lit for a minimum of 2 – 3 hours each time to insure a clean and efficient burning cycle for the life of the candle.
This little know technique is a great way to elimate smoke when extinguishing the candle, using a non-flammable instrument, gently dip the wick into the liqud wax and your candle will extingish quickly.
You should not trim the wick or touch it while it is cold!
The wick is designed to produce a small black carbon cap at the top as it burns. This is normal and helps to radiate heat to the edge of the candle for even burning. The best time to remove carbon deposits or other foreign materials from the liquid wax is right after extinguishing the flame.
If your candle burns unevenly (due to a draft, for instance), carefully push the wick towards the higher side. If this causes dripping, extinguish the flame, let it cool for an hour, then relight the candle. Repeat this practice a few times and the candle will repair itself.
If you have oe our our cnadles for a long time, it may loose some of it’s luster. To help regain the color of a non- textured candle, buff with a soft cotton cloth or an old nylon stocking to remove dust and small scratches. This technique restores the candle’s sheen.
For a textured candle, using a hairdryer to warm the surface until the colour returns is also an option, just be careful not to melt the candle!
Many times the your new candle that is just slightly too large for your favorite candleholder.
If this happens, set the stem of the candle in half an inch of hot tap water to soften the wax and push the candle into the holder gently.
The candle base will custom fit to the candle holder. Repeat as necessary for a secure fit.
